Naples area youth triathlete's raced in beautiful weather this past Saturday at North Collier Community Park for the "Junior Fitness Challenge Triathlon". A race organized through Naples Area Triathletes (NATS) was fully staffed and executed well. Members of NATS, Annie Galdames and Steve Gust co-hosted promoting the event.
344 registered, the organizers expected 200 participants and were pleasantly surprized by the larger number. On a side note, this says great things about our communities growth. Check in must have been bonkers though.
The age range is 7-13 with the kids competing in all three disciplines; 1/4 mile swim, 3.5 mile bike and between 1.5-3.0 miles of running.
Everyone went home happy and encouraged to come back next year. Some of the kids that competed in the event last year, having moved up in their age category competed in the adult Fitness Challenge held this past Sunday. They did great and were well prepared. Way to go Naples Area Triathlete members and kids!
